The Coach Approach

About Me

Patricia TunbridgeAs an expatriate who has navigated eight international moves so far, I have had to constantly reinvent myself as I adapted to each new posting and each new set of local conditions.

My working life has included working in hotels and restaurants in the UK, Ireland and Hong Kong, running my own business in Bahrain and I was an operations manager in Hong Kong. When I arrived in Switzerland I went through yet another reinvention and trained to be a language teacher. It was while doing research for my business English students that I started to read articles about coaching. By the time I had read my first book on coaching I was hooked and wanted to be a part of this very positive process of moving people forward. So I qualified as a coach in 2010 and became a member of the International Coach Federation.

When choosing the main focus of my coaching, it was clear to me that my experience as an expatriate could help people embrace the challenges, new experiences and many opportunities of overseas life. From my own experience I knew that most companies offer nothing more than basic relocation services to employees on global assignments. This can make settling in a long and sometimes difficult process, especially if you are an accompanying spouse or partner. Now I support people from all walks of life as they manage their careers,  face the unexpected and try to capture that feeling of being at home abroad.

In 2012 I was invited to become an associate of the coach training company Coaching Success For You and I am currently working towards an Associate Accredited Coach (ACC) qualification with the International Coach Federation. I am a licensed  career coach using the Firework TM career change programme.
